“Have a good life, what’s left of it.” – Frank Martin

This time The Transporter, Frank Martin (Jason Statham), is a private driver for a wealthy Miami family’s young son.  Frank drives him to and from school and forms a bond with the young chap.  While under Frank’s watch the boy is kidnapped and The Transporter must get him back.  The only problem is that Frank is also a main suspect.  when the family gets the boy back he had been injected with some sort of virus.  The boy’s father turns out to be the target of the virus.  He is about to speak at a conference (and did I mention his wealth).  So it is now up to good ole Frank Martin to get the antidote and save the day.

Jason Statham plays Frank Martin to a T.  The mother and father are also believable and are dealing with their own issues prior to their son’s abduction.  The villains are a rag tag group led by the devilish Gianni Chellini (Alessandro Gassman) and his skeleton skinny, dual machine gun wielding girlfriend Lola (model Kate Nauta).  Everyone plays their part.  There is no one actor that stands out as not pulling their weight.

Transporter 2 has the best action scenes of the entire series.  The scene in the doctors office is worth the price of admission alone.  You also have a really fun showdown between Frank Martin and Max (boxer Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs).  Then there is the Jackie Chan-esque fire hose scene.  The Transporter series tends to rely too heavily on wirework for it’s action and martial arts scenes.  The Transporter 2 uses less wirework which makes the action seem much more realistic.  Of course, that isn’t to say that the action in Transporter 2 is truly realistic but you can at least convince yourself that it could happen without having to use wires or special effects.  And of course, it wouldn’t be The Transporter if there weren’t a few car chase scenes thrown in.

Transporter 2 never makes you watch for too long without having some excitement.  You won’t have to worry about not being entertained  Transporter 2 is my personal favorite of the series.  It has the best & most action of the series and doesn’t have the annoying women that #1 & #3 have.  This is the movie that originally made me a Jason Statham fan.  If you are an action movie fan (and I know you are) then Transporter 2 should be right up your alley.
